PRACTITIONER LEVEL TRAINING
PART 1
The practitioner level
training is offered as an intensive course which equates, in
study hours, to a university year.
It is designed
however, to run over a 5 month period beginning with a two
week residential, practical training element.
Since hypnotherapy
is, fundamentally, a hands-on profession, the value of practical
training cannot be overstated and the
two week
residential part of the course is an essential component
of the training and students must attend if they wish to qualify.
During
this time, students undergo ‘immersion training’,
learning, in a fully supervised and supportive environment,
the practical application of hypnosis. Many undergo life changing
self
development during this period of time.
The aim is for students
to learn and expand their understanding of, and competence
in, the utilisation of hypnosis in a
therapeutic setting.
During the first week, participants will be involved
in learning induction and deepening procedures and management
of the
hypnotic state, including suggestion therapy and termination
of the
hypnosis. Each student will also have the opportunity
to
experience a session
of hypnoanalysis facilitated by Kate.
The second week
will introduce students to the practice of hypnoanalysis,
the effective management of abreaction
and
past life regression.
Training is carried out by fully experienced tutors,
supplemented by specialist lecturers and visiting, practising
hypnotherapists.
The remainder of the course is carried out on a distance
learning basis with extensive feedback being provided
as students’ progress.

PART 2
During
the four weeks following Part 1, students are required to carry
out eight case studies, utilising suggestion therapy,
for which they are covered by the school's insurance. These
case studies are submitted at the end of this period for
assessment and extensive feedback provided.
In order to carry
out these case studies, students will be required to enlist
volunteers, research the various presenting
complaints
(all notes provided) and recommend, with additional guidance
where necessary, approaches to treatment.
Student compiled reports on the implementation of the hypnotic
techniques and management of the hypnotic state, from initial
consultation to termination and post session reaction, will
be the bases for
assessment.
PART 3
Toward the end of Part 2, an open book exam paper
will be issued, designed in such a way as to ensure that course
participants
have read and fully understood not only the coursework
and the associated
support information, but also its implications.
PART 4
On successful completion of the course, students can
apply for membership of the National Society of Professional
Hypnotherapists. On acceptance they will be allocated
a mentor who will be
available for advice and support during the first six
months of their
practice.
There will always however, be experienced hypnotherapists to
call on, whenever required, through the NSPH hotline.

| Postgraduate LEVEL TRAINING
Two weekends per annum will be provided by the School, supplemented
by further PG training opportunities in Yorkshire, for the support
of existing Members of the NSPH.
Recent graduates and individuals who may be returning to practise
after a period of absence are encouraged to consider the additional
opportunity these weekends provide for updating and/or refreshing
skills.
There is no formal requirement to attend, but the NSPH Code
of Conduct recommends that all practising Members undertake some
form of Continuing Professional Development and attendance at
these weekends is certificated and contributes toward this obligation.
The weekends also provide the opportunity for practising therapists
to undergo some therapeutic experience themselves, which many
find assists in the maintenance of their own overall mental,
physical and emotional balance.
